The focus of the free 30-minute consultation is to see if we would be a good fit to work together. This first conversation gives us the opportunity to see if you feel a connection and sense of safety before you make any commitments.
We’ll chat about what brings you to counselling and what you are hoping to gain from this process. If you aren’t quite sure of that yet, that’s okay! We can figure it out together.
You are encouraged to ask any questions or bring up any concerns you may have to ensure you feel confident moving forward.

The total fee for a 60-minute session is $155.
You can pay with your credit card on Jane, by e-transfer, cheque, or cash.

Some employer and academic insurance plans include coverage for Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs). Please consult with your insurance provider if this is an option for you. Be sure to confirm the percentage covered per session and the total yearly amount covered so there are no surprises.

Starting in mid-to-late 2024, some insurance companies in BC have allowed counsellors to offer direct billing. Some participating insurance companies are:
Manulife
Canada Life
First Canadian
Alberta Blue Cross
Telus AdjudiCare
Not all insurance companies are offering direct billing for counsellors at this time. Hopefully more will opt in in the future! Please contact me for the most up to date information.

I accept funding from:
Bigstone Cree Nation (BCN)
Métis Nation of BC (MNBC)
Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre (SLCC)
BC Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP)
First Nations Health Authority (FNHA)*
*I have limited availability for people using First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) funding, since it does not cover my full rate. Currently, I have a very lengthy waitlist for FNHA-funded clients (over 9 months). To join the waitlist, please contact me by using the contact form or emailing hello@fourcedarscounselling.com

Sessions must be cancelled with at least 24 hours notice, otherwise, the full session rate will apply.
For FNHA-funded sessions, the fee for sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice is $31.50.

Ultimately, whatever works for your schedule/financial situation/life!
I’ve noticed that people tend to book sessions more frequently at the beginning, and then once they start to see some progress on their goals, they tend to space their sessions out more.
We can be flexible and adaptive to your needs.

This is one of my favourite questions about therapy to answer!
As we begin our work together, we'll discuss your goals and hopes for therapy in detail so that we can track your progress as we go along. Together, we'll define what success looks like for you and set some markers to help us monitor your progress.
It's important to note that you don't need to know what progress looks like before starting therapy. This is something we can figure out together. We'll check in periodically to see how you're doing and review your goals to make sure we're on track.
If you ever have any questions or concerns about your progress, please don't hesitate to ask me. I'm here to support you on your journey and to celebrate your progress, no matter how small or big it may be.

The structure of each session is tailored to your individual needs and goals for therapy. Depending on what you want to work on, sessions may look different from week to week. However, there are some key elements you can expect in each session.
First and foremost, you will have a safe and supportive space to share your story and be heard. Through our conversations, we will uncover themes and patterns that may be impacting your life. We will also focus on identifying and utilizing your strengths to overcome challenges. In each session, we will work collaboratively to achieve your goals.
If you're interested, we may also incorporate art therapy into our sessions as a way to further explore your experiences and emotions.
During the consultation, we can discuss in more detail how I can best support you on your journey.

I use the Jane platform for online sessions. Jane provides online booking, video sessions, and receipts on one secure system. Jane is compliant with the Canadian privacy and protection laws.
About an hour before your scheduled session, you’ll receive an email with a link to access your online session.
Please ensure you are in a private space for your appointment. I recommend that you have a fully charged device and strong internet connection to minimize technical interruptions.

No contents of your therapy sessions, whether verbal, written, or communicated with artistic mediums, may be shared with another party without your written consent.
However, there are times when I am legally required to release information. This includes:
if you are at risk of harm to yourself or others
when a child is at risk of abuse or immediate harm
when subpoenaed by a court of law
if you are experiencing an acute medical emergency
To maintain best practices, Gabby consults with other clinical counsellors in supervision meetings. During these meetings, your identity will remain confidential. In addition, all clinical counsellors are bound by the same confidentiality policies.
